a quandary…
Briefly put, I find myself today at the centre of an unexpected dilemma; having just begun my newest mince pie acquisitions from trusty Marks and Spencer (old school, rather than the puff pastry version which I will continue to view with suspicion until I am advised otherwise) I find that whilst the rich, crisp and friable pastry is lovely and easily has the edge on the hurriedly-bought Sainsburys ones from last time, they are noticably lighter on filling and more than a little, well, empty by comparison.
Short of carefully prying off the lids and adding extra before warming (and if I was prepared to bugger about like that I would have made my own in the first place, which no doubt I will but not for a couple of weeks yet) the only course of action as far as I can see, at least before I’ve had the chance to obtain the Tesco and (last year’s runaway favourite) Mr Kipling offerings is to buy another pack of the Sainsbury’s ones and have one of each together at a time in the hope that the combination of each others strengths will cancel out the respective weaknesses and a calm and happy medium will be reached, preferably before I run out of Elmlea.
Or I could just get some more 2 for £4 Mini Bites. This is the most important thing I intend to think about all day.

Nothing could be better than a warm fruity tart in front of a roaring fire!

How very true. Especially in this weather!
