can’t say they didn’t warn me…

Well time to pack up and I am happy to report that my Glasgow trip has been lots of fun, at least in the impromptu mini-break sense of the word! Having followed a visit to the Gallery of Modern Art with a pot of Darjeeling at the Charles Rennie Mackintosh-designed Willow Tea Rooms before spending the remainder of the beautiful wintry day in the almost uninterrupted sunshine, strolling amongst the city’s fabulous architecture (which usefully and thoughtfully houses many shops, restaurants and other places of interest), I am now mulling over whether to wander down to the nearby Cineworld for the late show, or leave my mandatory pictures-visit until I get to Edinburgh tomorrow.

I have also (thanks completely to one of my ever-helpful confederates) discovered a wonderful new hotel, which despite being part of a budget chain and boasting rooms barely larger than my hallway has blazed it’s way into my top five places to stay anywhere, thanks not only to the enviably huge (and I do mean huge) beds, super-swish design and colourful lighting, but the handy self check-in, delightful all night café and superb location in the city centre. What a pity then, that aside from one surprise visitor (who has seen me many times in That London and couldn’t believe his luck, Gawd love him), not one of the punters of Glasgow could see fit to book in a timely manner so they could come and enjoy it too.

Adultwork notwithstanding – one entirely predictable non-confirm/no show last night *yawns, stretches* plus the usual number who decided that my clearly written instructions to use the email and booking system to register their interest weren’t important enough for them to be troubled with, and repeatedly called and texted (or so I found out when I switched on my dedicated AW phone, which for once I actually remembered to bring with me although it’s battery has now conked out) has been as much use as ever (think chocolate oven glove), but at least it’s cheap. The £40 ad I decided to try out on Escort Scotland yielded precisely two calls, one looking for domination (specifically listed on my site as a service I do not offer) and one which was so unintelligible (and trust me, I have no problem whatsoever understanding a Glasgow accent) that the part of the conversation mentioning said ad was the only part I can confidently recall with enough accuracy to mention here. Curiouser and curiouser.

Having been warned by virtually everyone I know over the past few weeks about the general Glaswegian preference for calling at short notice I remained gamely in the hotel until gone half-past eleven fielding phone calls from people wanting ‘details’ (to the extent which actually had me wondering whether I had mistakenly placed a newspaper ad and then forgotten about it), half hour bookings in ten minutes time, one hour appointment with unprotected oral and anal for £100 (wrong number) before giving up altogether and determined not to completely waste the trip, switched my phone to silent, put on my trusty woolly hat and set off to enjoy the city. And having had a very pleasant day as described, I was very glad I did!

One thing I unequivocably will not do either at home or away is sit about waiting to be summoned – if I wanted money that badly I would stay at home doing half hour all-ins for fifty quid, and since I make this abundantly clear in my advertising, whether or not anyone approves of my chosen way of working is irrelevant. Knowing that there are many wonderful ladies having no trouble making a good honest living here, it would appear that Glasgow is simply not my market; bizarrely, since my (seriously delayed, but that’s another story altogether) arrival yesterday I have taken four two hour bookings (three of them for London – as most people know this is a regular and favourite destination of mine, yet a city which many of the ladies I know complain is disappointing for them) in December and organised the final details for an overnight in a few weeks time, plus turned down several appointments this week for – yup – Scarborough. The current activities of the Glasgow police in systematically raiding and closing down every sauna and working flat in the city (and rumour has it, now starting on independent flats where a maid is present), the local punters who would normally prefer a walk-in type service have nowhere to turn. However, whilst I sympathise, I am not the answer to their problem and although I would very much like to visit again, it will have to be for another reason.

Edinburgh, for it’s part, is as usual looking far more encouraging, and I am very much looking forward to returning tomorrow! Since I am now on my second (they were 2 for £4) bucket of M&S Rocky Road Mini-Bites I fervently hope it is, or the gym will be seeing an awful lot more of me in the run up to Christmas. Literally…
